Functions and Features

An HUNS3 board receives mixed signals of STM-16/STM-64/GE/nGE/10GEservices with the total bandwidth not larger than 40 Gbit/s from the backplane, encapsulates them into ODU0/ODU1/ODUflex/ODU2/ODU3/OTU3 units, and transmits them out through an optical port.

Table 1, Table 2, and Table 3 list the functions and features supported by HUNS3 boards.

Basic functions
  • Provides one OTU3 optical port to transmit/receive and process 1xOTU3 services.
  • Supports a maximum of four virtual ports when transmitting/receiving STM-16/STM-64/10GE services.
  • Supports a maximum of 24GE virtual ports when transmitting/receiving GE/nGE services.
NOTICE:

The board capacity is license-controlled. One license provides a 10 Gbit/s capacity and one board provides a maximum capacity of 40 Gbit/s.

The board license is granted on a per-board basis.

If STM-16, GE, or nGE services are configured, a maximum of 30GE packet services and 10 Gbit/s SDH services are supported.

Optical module specifications
  • Supports CFP pluggable optical modules.
  • Supports the monitoring and querying of optical module information.
  • Switches lasers on or off and provides automatic laser shutdown (ALS).
Error correction coding
  • Supports forward error correction (FEC) coding in compliance with ITU-T G.709.

Laser Safety Class

The laser safety class of the optical port on an HUNS3 board is CLASS 1. That is, the maximum launched optical power of the optical port is lower than 10 dBm (10 mW).
