Product Introduction
The USN9810 uses the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) platform and features large capacity and high integration, easy operation and maintenance, high reliability, flexibility, and accurate clock system and time.
Hardware platform
The USN9810 uses the internal open standards telecom architecture (OSTA 2.0) platform of Huawei. OSTA 2.0 provides high rate, high reliability, and high expansion capacity.
The OSTA 2.0 hardware platform stipulates a series of specifications related to boards and software for the next generation telecom devices. Based on the ATCA standard architecture and conforming to the network equipment building system (NEBS) and
European telecommunications standards institute (ETSI) standards, the platform has the following features:
* High rate
The high-speed serial data link and switched structure are used. Thus, the data exchange bandwidth intra-subrack can reach 2.5 Tbit/s.
* High reliability
In addition, redundancy is implemented on all key components, such as power supply, fan, management module, and board of each type. The reliability of the system reaches 99.999%.
* High expansion capability
The USN9810 supports addition of interfaces on the ATCA board and cascading between subracks through the interface board within a subrack.
* Well management
The standard management bus is used, which can manage any part in the system.
The major security features implemented by BSC6900 software and subject to evaluation are:
1. Authentication: Operators accessing the TOE in order to execute device management functions are identified by individual user names and authenticated by passwords. Also, the TOE connects with the M2000 entity
(external management element of the whole communication solution). The communication with the M2000 is protected connection using the SSL/TLS. Also an additional private arithmetic process common to both parties is
applied before the authentication. Once the M2000 is properly connected the interaction with the TOE is made by the utilization of a special user (EMSCOMM) registered in the BSC6900 software.
2. Role-based access control: The TOE implements role-based access control, limiting access to different management functionality to different roles.
3. Auditing: Audit records are created for security-relevant events related to the use of BSC6900 software.
4. Communications security: BSC6900 software provides SSL/TLS channels (for FTP, HTTP, MML, BIN) to access the TOE.
5. Management of security functionality: The TOE offers management functionality for its security functionality.
6. Digital signature: For the installation of GBTS managed element, the TOE is able to check the software integrity of the package previous to the installation of the element in order to verify its integrity.
The structure of the T8280 subrack is described as follows:
* Front structure of the subrack
* The subrack provides 14 slots for installing the universal process blades (UPBs) and switch units (SWUs).
* The backplane is located in the subrack and is used to transmit signals between boards.
* The fan trays are located under the board slots. The two fan trays can be maintained separately.
* The slots for the shelf management Module (SMM) are located at the bottom front of the subrack. The SMM manages all the boards, fans, and power supplies of the subrack. Generally, two SMMs are configured.
* Rear structure of the subrack
* The subrack provides 14 slots for installing the universal service interface units (USIs) and switch interface units (SWIs).
* The slots for the shelf data Module (SDM) are located at the bottom rear of the subrack. The SDM and the SMM are installed in pairs. Two SDMs can be configured.
* The power entry modules (PEMs) are located above the SDM boards. Each subrack has two PEMs working in the 1+1 backup mode, which can be maintained independently.
The IMS adopts the standard ATCA-based OSTA 2.0 hardware platform developed by Huawei.
The OSTA hardware platform is based on the ATCA and complies with the standards of Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) and
European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). It has the following features and advantages:
* Extensively used for a long time on existing network.
The ATCA-based OSTA 2.0 platform has been widely used in various products of Huawei since 2004, and has been proven on live networks.
* Complies with ATCA PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG) 3.0 and PICMG 3.1.
* Consumes less power.
* Automatically lowers the working frequency of hardware in the case of low traffic, and thereby reduces power consumption.
* Adopts the new hexad-core processor, which greatly reduces the CPU usage.
* Replaces traditional hard-disk drives with solid-state drives.
With the support of these features and advantages, the OSTA 2.0 platform can reduce the power consumption by 30%.
